The Housatonic Railroad received a grant of $3.6 million from the state of Massachusetts to help rebuild the section of track from Lenox, MA to Stockbridge, MA. This work includes upgrading the present track to 115 lb welded rail. In exchange for this grant, the Berkshire Scenic Railway will be allowed to run tourist excursions over this stretch of track. The tourist train is expected to resume service after 14 years around Memorial Day, 2003. These are some views of the work being done around the Lenox Station.
