| The station at
Brookfield Junction, Connecticut was a busy one in it's day. In it's
heyday, up to 40 trains would pass this station per day. From this
station, trains could go north to New Milford and on to Canaan, east
towards Hawleyville or west to Danbury. At the end of World War II, the
station and the eastern spur had lost it's usefullness to it's owners (NY
NH & H RR) and were removed. Today, all that remains in the area is the
abandoned hotel which has
become a traffic hazard for the drivers on Stony Hill Road and the remains of the old turntable.
The Berkshire Line still connects rail traffic for the Housatonic Railroad
between Danbury and New Milford. Clicking the thumbnail will open a larger picture in a new window.. |

| Photo taken of Brookfield Junction looking north from the June 1, 2003 edition of the News Times (center). The turntable is on the left and the station itself is to the upper right of the center. The white building on the right was a hotel (perhaps a bordello) and is still standing today on Stony Hill Rd. | |||||

| This would have been the north end of the station. Today, a lost box car door lays a few feet from the tracks. | The site of the station is overgrown with thick brush. | A long concrete platform can still be seen on the west side of the tracks. | |||

| To the north of the station site is the bridge over Rt 133 - Junction Road. Today it is a favorite target of graffiti vandals with spray paint, but when this station was around it supported double tracks across the road below. | |||||
