The site of the Housatonic Railroad's Engine and Repair Shops is now mostly under water. There is a short, easy to hike trail at this site. Several signs along the trail give a description of what was once there.
Clicking the thumbnail will open a larger picture in a new window.
A portion of an 1850 map of Salisbury, CT shows the HRR engine shops. The upper left portion of this modern topographical map shows where the Housatonic Railroad's Engine Shops once were.
From a trail sign is a hand drawn map of the engine shops during the 1800's. High altitude photo of the same area. Map from 1859showing Falls Village, Connecticut with the engine shops shown at the top of the map.

Today a dam for the Falls Village Generating Station occupies the area where a bridge carried traffic from the main line to the engine shops.   The rocks in the center are actually the top of 'Little Falls'. These falls are where the shops got water power.
Three images of the last visible signs of the engine shops. The bricks in these photos appear to be the corner of the foundation for the car shop.
Circular weed growth in these two photos seem to show the location of the roundtable.
From the Postcards section is a view of the falls along with the  railroad bridge that crossed the Housatonic River. This is the bridge that crossed the Housatonic to get to the engine shops.
